Hi,
The practice of placing the fish tank at window is an acceptable practise. However, you must leave a reasonable gap e.g. 6 inches from the wall.
The above practise is very common when there is a street lamp outside the window *slicing* thru the window. As the street lamp to some practioners represent a Fire element, the water is used to cool it down or neutralise it.
